Hello and Welcome,

I want to thank you for your interest in adjusting to Daylight Saving Time and why sleep is vital to good health.

This weekend there will be a lot of interest in "sleep" - as people "spring forward" at 2 a.m. Sunday to Daylight Saving Time.

What is the best way to shift into DST and reset our circadian clock?

From what I have read in the past... and it seems to work for me...

EXPOSURE TO LIGHT HELPS RESET OUR BRAINS

Get up - turn on the lights, open the curtains.

EAT BREAKFAST

Some research has shown a link between the gut and the brain in creating our circadian rhythms... which has a 24 hour rhythm. When it is thrown out of sync, sleep can be affected. Reset that early, and the brain & sleep are most likely to follow.

EXERCISE

Exercise in the morning has been shown to help with the onset of sleep at night - while late-afternoon and early-evening exercise deepens sleep.

SOCIALIZE WITH OTHERS

Monday will be a great time for us network marketers to get on the phone and talk to our prospects. Socializing is a indication to you body that you are adjusting your circadian rhythm. It helps you stay alert during the day and sleep at night.

WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT

Because it is very important to wellness.

Six to nine hours is a good range - seven probably ideal for most adults. Those who sleep less may be at risk health wise.

Some study that I read about showed that more car crashes occur the Monday after a time change.

Another interesting study showed that... if we don't get enough sleep we are at a higher risk of being overweight. Being sleep deprived is linked to more food cravings and snacking.

If you have a good doctor, I suggest you talk to them - because studies show that people who sleep less than six hours were more likely have serious medical problems.

Also, with being sleep deprived you are more apt to make mistakes. It has been said that sleep acts like a shower to wash away the junk proteins in the brain..

Also, there are problems in getting too much sleep - if you get too much sleep, you should discuss that with a good doctor or sleep expert.

WHAT ELSE CAN HELP WITH GETTING BETTER SLEEP

Not eating or drinking alcohol two hours before bedtime. Also, if you consume caffeine, limit your caffeine consumption to earlier in the day

OTHER REASONS FOR NEEDING SLEEP ADVICE

I have had several reasons to study the topic of sleep... Most of you who know me ... know that from time to time, I like to work all night - so I am constantly trying to reset my circadian clock - healthy people need to have proper sleep.
